The Pirates High School Cross Country team known as the "Purple Pack", consists of approximately 70 student athletes who strive to maintain a "Tradition of Excellence". Training begins in early August and it includes an overnight training camp. Many kilometers later, through trails, hills, mud and whatever nature throws at us, in the first weekend of November, our fun but very intense season concludes at OFSAA
.The competition schedule is very impressive with trips to Guilderland and Manhattan, N.Y., to Toronto, Niagara Falls, Port Hope and Florida. Our travelling creates opportunity for cultural development, team bonding and exposure to top competition. In addition to our road trips, we host our annual Pirate's Invitational at Memorial Park. The Pirates Cross Country team may very well be the most successful sports team in Eastern Ontario. At the conclusion of the 2012 season the Pirates have captured 29 consecutive LGSSAA team titles, 15 consecutive EOSSAA championships and 5 OFSAA overall titles. The number of OFSAA championship pennants hanging in the school gymnasium is most impressive.
Every student is welcome to join the Cross Country team. All that is required is a commitment to practice. As a member of the "Purple Pack" one experiences a great deal of personal growth and along with incredible memories, lifelong friendships are created.
Our team motto is: "No Deposit - No Return"
